1. William Harvy¹ Alexander⁽⁴⁰⁾ was born in Tennessee September 10, 1812. William died December 7, 1878 in Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, IA, at 66 years of age.

He married twice. He married Nancy Laughlin in Tennessee, November 5, 1834. Nancy was born about 1812. (Additional notes for Nancy Laughlin⁽⁴¹⁾) He married Lucinda May Calvin in VanBuren Co, Iowa, September 7, 1843. Lucinda was born in Tennessee 1816. (Additional notes for Lucinda May Calvin⁽⁴²⁾) Lucinda died after 1880. In the 1880 census Harrisburg, Van Buren, Iowa page 450, Lucinda (age 61) is recorded with her son Harvy (age 31). She is keeping house and is recorded as widowed. In the 1850 census Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, Iowa page 295, Harvey (age 38), is recorded with Lucinda (age 33), William (age 10), Thomas (age 6), John (age 4), James (age 3), and Andrew (age 2). Harvey is noted as being a cabnet maker and was born in Alabama. Lucinda was born in Tenn.

In the 1860 census Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, Iowa page 559, W.H. (age 47), is recorded with Lucinda (age 43), William (age 19), Thomas (age 15), John (age 14), James (age 11), Andrew (age 13), Hester (age 10), Franklin (age 8) and George (age 4). W.H. is noted as being a farmer born in Tenn.

In the 1870 census Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, Iowa page 270, W.H. (age 57), is recorded with Lucinda (age 54), A. J. (age 23), James (age 21), Hester (age 20), F.P. (age 19) and G. W. (age 14). W.H. is noted as being a farmer born in Tenn.

William Harvy Alexander and Nancy Laughlin had the following children:

7 vi. James Harvey Alexander⁽⁴⁷⁾ was born in Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, IA October 15, 1848. In the 1880 census Harrisburg, Van Buren, Iowa page 450, Harvy (age 31) is recorded with his mother Lucinda (age 61). He is a farmer born in Iowa.

8 vii. Hester A Alexander⁽⁴⁸⁾ was born in Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, IA 1849.

9 viii. Franklin Pierce Alexander was born in Harrisburg Twp, VanBuren Co, IA February 3, 1852.
