He married Mary A Merkle in Baden-Baden, Germany, about 1844. Mary was born in Baden-Baden, Germany 1828. In the 1850 census Tinicum Twp, Bucks, Pennsylvania page 293, Charles (age 29) is recorded with Mary (age 23), and Fredrick (age 5), Charles is a boatman born in Germany.

In the 1860 census Tinicum Twp, Bucks, Pennsylvania page 662, Charles (age 39) is recorded with Mary (age 33), William (age 9), Sophia (age 6), Mary (age 2), and Leo (age 11m). Charles is a boatman born in Germany.

In the 1870 census Upper Black Eddy, Nockamixon, Bucks, Pennsylvania page 461, Charles (age 49) is recorded with his wife Mary (age 42), Leo (age 10), Victoria (age 7), Jacob (age 4), and Elizabeth (age 2m, Apr). Charles noted as boating on canal and born in Baden.

In the 1880 census Nockamixon, Bucks, Pennsylvania page 488, Charles (age 59) is recorded with his wife Mary (age 52), Victory (age 19), Jacob (age 14), and Lizzie (age 10). Charles is a farmer born in Baden. Both Charles and Mary's parents were also born in Baden.

5 iv. Mary Bill was born Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co, PA 1858.

6 v. Leo Bill was born Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co, PA 1859.

7 vi. Victoria Bill was born Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co, PA December 10, 1861. Victory died June 15, 1942 at 80 years of age.

+ 8 vii. Jacob Bill was born March 1866.

9 viii. Elizabeth Bill was born Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co, PA February 12, 1870. She married Lawrence Stakley Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co, PA, 1891. Lawrence was born Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co, PA 1866.
