3. John Issac2 Brownell (William1) was born in At Sea February 27, 1838. John died November 5, 1914 in Willing Twp, Allegany Co, NY, at 76 years of age. Wellsville Daily Reporter November 6, 1914 John R Brownell died at his home in Alma at 5:30 o'clock Thursday Nov 5, 1914. He was the son of William Brownell and was born Feb 27, seventy-seven Years ago on the ocean, while his parents were in route to this country from Germany. The family first settled at Mt Morris but 47 years ago the deceased came to Alma where he has since resided, being employed as a rig builder and teamster in the oil fields. On Sept 28, 1886 he was married to Mary Denning, who surives him together with the following children: Mrs Phoebe DeLong, Augustus, James, William, Emma, Rachel, and Elmer of Alma; Mrs Elizabeth Clark of Bradford; and one sister; Miss Sarah Brownell of Mt Morris. The funeral will be held on Sunday at 1 o'clock at the home and at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church at Yorks Corners, Rev John S Brown Officiating.

He married Mary M Denning New York, September 28, 1886. Mary was born New York 1868. Mary died 1951 in Allegany Co, New York, at 83 years of age.

John Issac Brownell and Mary M Denning had the following children:

child 5 i. Flora Pheba3 Brownell was born in Alma, Allegany Co, NY February 14, 1889. Flora died August 29, 1967 in Wellsville, Allegany Co, NY, at 78 years of age. She married Joseph F Coyle in Allegany Co, New York, January 24, 1907.

Wellsville Daily Reporter October 5, 1955 Augustus I Brownell, life long resident of the town of Alma, died this morning in the Jones Memorial Hospital. Born Feb 25, 1891 at Alma. Mr Brownell was the son of the late John I and Mary Demming Brownell. Mr Brownell had been employed as an oil well pumper by the Thornton Company for the last 38 years. Mr Brownell is survived by four sisters; Mrs Joseph Coyle, Mrs Edward Clark, Mrs Rachel Clark all of Wellsville and Mrs Walter Jones of Hornell; three brothers; James Brownell and William Brownell of Willing and Elmer Brownell of Alma. Mr Brownell is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Another sister, Mrs Elmer DeLong died in 1954. Mr Brownell was a member of the Methodist Church of Stannards. Services will be conducted at 2p.m. at the Embser Funeral Home. The Rev O.B. Hill will officiate. Burial will take place in the Yorks Corners Cemetery.

child 11 vii. Rachel Brownell was born in Alma, Allegany Co, NY 1907. She married Watson Jordan in Scio, Allegany Co, NY, October 19, 1920.

child + 12 viii. Elmer A Brownell was born March 30, 1911.
