1. Edward P¹ Leonard was born in New Jersey 1830.

He married Mary Elizabeth Akers. Mary was born in West Amwell, Hunterdon Co, NJ 1832. Mary was the daughter of Uriah Akers and Elizabeth Closson. In the 1850 census Amwell Twp Hunterdon Co NJ page 9, Leonard (age 20) is recorded as a Wheelwright with the family of George Holcombe (age 38) also a Wheelwright.

In the 1860 census Amwell Twp Hunterdon Co NJ page 451, Leonard (age 33) is recorded with Mary (age 27), Lydia (age 4), and Ruth (age 2). Edward is a farmer born in NJ.

Edward P Leonard and Mary Elizabeth Akers had the following children:

2 i. Lydia² Leonard was born in West Amwell, Hunterdon Co, NJ 1856.

3 ii. Ruth Leonard was born in West Amwell, Hunterdon Co, NJ 1858.
