He married twice. He married Mollie C unknown about 1860. Mollie was born in Kentucky 1842. (Additional notes for Mollie C unknown(3541)) Was recorded with the name Mary in the 1870 census.
He married Rebecca Jane Cantrell 1891. Rebecca was born in Atlanta, Fulton Co, GA September 5, 1859. The 1900 cenus records her birth as Sept 1863 and the date would agree with the 1910 census. Her obituary has the year as 1859. (Additional notes for Rebecca Jane Cantrell(3542))
Rebecca died May 14, 1943 in Kiowa, Barber Co, KS, at 83 years of age. Buried at Riverview Cemetery In the 1910 census Third Street, Kiowa Twp, Barber Co, Kansas page 104, Rebecca (age 46,widow) is recorded with her children Daniel (age 18), Myra (age 15), Hazel (age 11), and Orella (age 10). She is noted as being a public washer woman. She has had 6 children all living at the time of the census.
Obituary of Rebecca Jane Cantrell Rebecca Jane Cantrell was born near Atlanta, GA on the 5th day of Sept. 1859. Her father was a southern planter, a son of the Confederacy, whose body lied in the Confederate Cemetery at Vicksburg. She grew to womanhood in the South and early became a member of the Baptist Church. In 1881 she was married to Samuel Tate, a southern gentleman. Mary Elizabeth Tate was the only issue of this union and Mr. Tate died in 1882. After his death, Mrs. Tate moved to Hickory County, MO with her daughter and her parents and there she resided until 1891 when she was married to P A. Lyman (Peter Allen). Mr. Lyman died in 1901 and Mrs. Lyman with her little family came to Kiowa the following year. Here at Kiowa, Mrs. Lyman made a reputation for herself for industry and thrift. She was the sole support of her children until they became old enough to contribute to the family larder. Her family was her chief interest in life, but she found time to help a neighbor in need, to take a cup of cold water in His name, to sit beside the dying and comfort those who mourned and stand by a new life, came to labour weary mothers. While living here at Kiowa she became associated with the Methodist Church and although in later years, she could not attend the services, but time and again she affirmed her faith in God and His goodness. Five children are among those who are sad because of the death of their mother. They are: Mrs. W. W. Johnson of Kiowa Mrs. Rachel Snoderly of Wellington Daniel J Lyman of Loveland, CO Mrs. Creola Manning of St. Joe, Ark Mrs. May Mercer of Loma, CO A daughter of Hazel Bevans died in 1922. There are 49 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and host of other friends and relatives. 13 grandsons are now in the service of their country, one was recently given an honorable discharge from the Army, one is missing in action and one was recently wounded in Aftrica. There is one great-grandson in the Army. Mrs. Lyman died Friday morning (5/14/43) at the home of Mrs. Hugh Griswold, where she had resided for several months. She was ill for many years but at the last was confined to her bed but a few days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 16 at the Kiowa Methodist Church, Rev. John Wesley Millsap was assisted in the service by Rev. John Boosinger of the Christian Church. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery IKERD Funeral Home was in charge.
In the 1870 census Bolivar P.O., Greene Twp, Polk Co, Missouri page 30, Peter (age 30) is recorded with Mary (age 28). He is recorded as a farmer.
In the 1880 census Greene Twp, Polk Co, Missouri page 350, Peter (age 42) is recorded with Mollie (age 35). Peter is a farmer born in Ohio and Mollie in Kentucky.
In the 1900 census Greene Twp, Polk Co, Missouri page 53, Peter (age 67) is recorded with his wife Rebecca (age 37), Rachel (age 8), Daniel (age 7), Myra (age 5), Hazel (age 3), and Orilla (age 11m). They have been married for 10 years and have 6 children. Peter is a farmer.

5 iv. Hazel Blanche Lyman(3546) was born in Polk Co, Missouri May 14, 1897.
6 v. Orilla Mae Lyman(3547) was born in Greene Twp, Polk Co, Missouri July 6, 1899. Orilla died July 1, 1977 in Fruita, Mesa Co, CO, at 77 years of age. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Fruita, Mesa Co, Colorado She married Stephen Manley Mercer July 23, 1917.
Manley was born in Gutherie, Logan Co, OK July 24, 1891. Manley(3548) was the son of Stephen Franklin Mercer and Nancy Elma Godown. Manley died September 19, 1966 in Fruita, Mesa Co, CO, at 75 years of age. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Fruita, Mesa Co, Colorado (See Stephen Manley Mercer for the continuation of this line.)
