44. Alexander4 McClure (Richard3, Richard2, unknown1)(3628) was born in Paxtang Twp, Lancaster Co, PA before about 1752, the first event for which there is a recorded date. Alexander died March 1803 in Mifflin, Allegheny Co, PA. buried at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Mifflin Township
He married Martha unknown about 1752. He was a soldier in the Revolution for a time, was in the Company of which his brother-in-law, Joseph Sherer, was captain; his name is frequently mentioned in the records of his county. His name is in the assessment list as the owner of two hundred acres of land. After 1782 his name fails to appear there, and in August, 1784, a warrant is granted to his son Richard for a large tract of land on the Monongahela river, a part of which is now the site of the Borough of Glassport, Pa.; which gives approximately the time of their coming to western Pennsylvania

107 vi. Margaret McClure was born in Paxtang Twp, Lancaster Co, PA October 10, 1762. Margaret died April 23, 1834 in Mifflin, Allegheny Co, PA, at 71 years of age. She married Francis McClure Lancaster Co, Pa., August 8, 1782. Francis was born in Raphoe, Donegal, N. Ireland 1740. Francis was the son of Samuel McClure and Sarah McKim. Francis died April 22, 1843 in Mifflin, Allegheny Co, PA, at 102 years of age. (See Francis McClure for the continuation of this line.)
108 vii. Martha McClure was born December 1, 1764.
109 viii. unknown McClure was born March 1, 1767.
