First Generation

1. Charles Alexander Teal1 Riegle was born in Darke Co. Ohio January 3, 1855. Charles died December 20, 1928 in Darke Co. Ohio, at 73 years of age.

He married Cassandra Ruan Shiverdecker in Darke Co. Ohio, January 8, 1881. Cassandra was born Preble Co, Ohio March 20, 1861. Cassandra died July 20, 1944 in Darke Co. Ohio, at 83 years of age.

Charles Alexander Teal Riegle and Cassandra Ruan Shiverdecker had the following children:

child 2 i. Pearl Etta2 Riegle was born VanBuren Twp, Darke Co, OH June 25, 1884. Pearl died February 18, 1969 Adams, Darke Co, Ohio, at 84 years of age. She married Ezra Vernandus Godown in Darke Co. Ohio, December 23, 1905. Ezra was born Franklin Twp, Darke Co, OH September 04, 1879. Ezra(4345) was the son of John Washington Godown and Amanda Jane Spitler. Ezra died October 22, 1963 in Piqua, Miami Co, OH, at 84 years of age. Both he and his wife are buried in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Twp., Darke Co., Ohio. child 3 ii. Bertha Belle Riegle was born in Butler Twp, Darke Co, OH December 14, 1885. She married Alfred Loren Oakes in Darke Co. Ohio, June 5, 1909. Alfred was born Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH November 9, 1886. Alfred died May 1970 Pitsburg, Darke Co, OH, at 83 years of age.

child 4 iii. Lucinda Catherine Riegle was born in Butler Twp, Darke Co, OH October 25, 1887. She married Oscar William Taylor in Darke Co. Ohio, March 27, 1910. Buried Camden, Preble Co., Ohio.

Oscar was born in Darke Co. Ohio November 10, 1886. Oscar died June 26, 1965 in Somers Twp., Preble Co., Ohio, at 78 years of age.

child 5 iv. Susan Ellen Riegle was born in Butler Twp, Darke Co, OH January 12, 1890. SSDI has her birth date as June 12, 1890 Susie died April 25, 1976 in Fort Jefferson, Darke Co, OH, at 86 years of age. She married Noble Roscoe Schlechty in Darke Co. Ohio, January 8, 1910. Noble was born in Darke Co. Ohio December 10, 1889. Noble died December 8, 1965 Greenville, Darke Co, OH, at 75 years of age. i0 He was a Minister. Both he and his wife are buried Ft. Jefferson, Darke Co., Ohio

child 6 v. Samuel Henry Riegle was born in Butler Twp, Darke Co, OH May 1, 1892. Samuel died August 4, 1906 in Abbotsville, Darke Co, OH, at 14 years of age.

child 7 vi. Harriet Hazel Riegle was born in Butler Twp, Darke Co, OH October 20, 1896. She married Chalmer C Hawkey in Darke Co. Ohio, May 8, 1915. Chalmer was born in Darke Co. Ohio March 29, 1891. child 8 vii. Oliver Orin Riegle was born VanBuren Twp, Darke Co, OH December 30, 1899. Ollie died May 13, 1979 in Fort Jefferson, Darke Co, OH, at 79 years of age. SSDI has residence as New Madison, Darke Co, OH Buried Ft. Jefferson, Darke Co., Ohio.

He married Ester Minerva House in Darke Co. Ohio, August 24, 1926.

Ester was born in Darke Co. Ohio August 7, 1904. Ester died February 18, 1996 in New Madison, Darke Co, OH, at 91 years of age.

child 9 viii. Abigail Blanche Riegle was born Greenville, Darke Co, OH August 13, 1902. Abbie died August 22, 1996 Greenville, Darke Co, OH, at 94 years of age. Her body was interred August 26, 1996 Greenville, Darke Co, OH, Abbottsville. She married Harry Albright in Darke Co. Ohio, March 1, 1924. Harry was born in Darke Co. Ohio May 2, 1900. Harry died December 23, 1969 Greenville, Darke Co, OH, at 69 years of age. (See Harry Albright for the continuation of this line.) Her Obituary:

Addie B. ALBRIGHT, 94, of 4887 Ohio 49-South, Greenville, Died...Thursday at Rest Haven Nursing Home. She had been in failing health since last November. Mrs. ALBRIGHT was born Aug. 13, 1902, in Darke County, daughter of Charles A. and Cassandra (SHIVERDECKER) RIEGLE. She was married March 1, 1924, to Harry ALBRIGHT, who died Dec. 23, 1969. Also deceased are a daughter, Doris Juanita at 5 days old; two brothers, Henry and Ollie RIEGLE; and five sisters, Pearl GODOWN; Bertha OAKES, Lucy TAYLOR, Susie SCHLECHTY and Hazel HAWKEY.

A Darke County native, she had lived at the above address since 1946. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville, the Nifty Neave Homemakers, the Merry Widows of Darke County and Darke County Senior Citizens.

A homemaker, she was well-known for being able to quote poetry from memory and known for her baking hickory nut cakes, raspberry pies and sugar cookies. Surviving are one son, Lowell Lee ALBRIGHT and his wife, Joan, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Anjeanette BOWERSOCK, Lowell Lee ABRIGHT II, Julia Ann Jones and Scott Allen ALBRIGHT; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsey BOWERSOCK and Marc BOWERSOCK. She was the last of eight children. The funeral is scheduled for 2 pm Mon. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Darryl RIEGLE officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.
