William Reading and Elizabeth Sargeant had the following children:

2 i. Charles Sargeant² Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey July 11, 1814. Charles died June 5, 1890 at 75 years of age.

3 ii. Joseph Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey August 16, 1817. Joseph died February 6, 1887 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL, at 69 years of age. He married Sarah Fox in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey. Sarah was the daughter of Jacob R Fox and Ruth Thatcher.

4 iii. Sarah Sargeant Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey September 17, 1819. Sarah died March 6, 1884 at 64 years of age. She married Odgen Roberson in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, about 1839. Odgen was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ July 26, 1812. Odgen was the son of William Roberson and Sarah West. Odgen died April 25, 1888 Flemington, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 75 years of age. 5 iv. Pamela Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey August 8, 1822.

6 v. Emma Sargeant Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey June 22, 1825. Emma died December 26, 1887 at 62 years of age.

7 vi. Theresa Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey January 8, 1828.

8 vii. Asher Reading was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey September 23, 1830.
