Following an illness from gangrene, Joseph Wertman, an octogenarian resident of Lehighton, died Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son, Victor Wertman, of North Second Street, Lehighton. He was eighty years of age and was a native of Lynn Township, Lehigh County.
Deceased is survived by the following children: Richard, of Slatington; Victor, George and Howard, of Lehighton; Mrs. Joseph Hunsicker, of Bethlehem; Mrs. Allen Cole, of Walnutport, and Mrs. James Heckman, of Cherryville. Sarah, wife of Joseph Wertman, died at her home, 355 Lower Main Street, Slatington, Friday of last week, of ills incident to old age. Mrs. Wertman was a native of Lizard Creek Valley and was aged 75 years, 11 months and 3 days.
There survive her husband and the following children: Mrs. John Hunsicker, Bethlehem; Richard, Laurys; Victor, George and Howard, Lehighton; Mrs. Alice Cole, Walnutport, and Mrs. James Heckman, Cherryville.

James was born in Lehigh Twp, Northampton Co, PA February 25, 1882. James(5621) was the son of William H Heckman Jr and Ellen J Minich. James died November 21, 1956 in Northampton Co., Pa, at 74 years of age. James H. Heckman, who worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company for half a century, died Wednesday, November 21, 1956, at his home in Cherryville, Northampton County. He was 74. He was born in Cherryville, a son of the late William and Ellen (Minnich) Heckman. He was of the Reformed faith. He went to work for the steel company when he was a boy and continued in its employ until a few years ago. He had been in fair health until last Thursday, when he was stricken with a heart attack.
