1. Cornelius¹ Coryell was born Coryell's Ferry, Hunterdon Co, NJ about 1764. Apparently Coryell's Ferry is near Amwell Cornelius died April 1843 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 78 years of age.

He married Mary Pidcock in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, about 1795. Mary was born in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey September 11, 1770. Mary died October 11, 1811 at 41 years of age.

Cornelius Coryell and Mary Pidcock had the following children:

2 i. Evelyn Ann² Coryell⁽⁶⁹¹⁾ was born in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey February 8, 1796. Ann died June 23, 1859 Lambertville, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 63 years of age. She married Jacob Godown Lambertville, Hunterdon Co, NJ, July 01, 1824. Jacob was born in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey June 01, 1796. Jacob⁽⁶⁹²⁾ was the son of John Godown Sr and Mary D Rounsavill. Jacob died January 15, 1848 Lambertville, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 51 years of age. (See Jacob Godown for the continuation of this line.) Evelyn was a member of the Coryell family that operated the ferry at Lambertville, New Jersey - then known as Coryell's Ferry. This ferry ran between Lambertville and New Hope, Pennsylvania across the Delaware River, and was a connecting link in the OLD YORK ROAD" stage coach route between New York and Philadelphia, it was used many times by Gen. George Washington in his travels across New Jersey - the site is a few miles up-river from the world famous spot known as "WASHINGTONS CROSSING". Albert W Godown

The IGI has her first name recorded as Ellen as do some other research.. There is an Elenor (age 54) and an Ann (age 58) living with John A in the 1850 census. My guess is that Elenor is John's mother and is just misspelled.

In the Deleware Valley news, July 6, 1859 Vol XXI, No 46, reads: Died In this village, June 23rd 1859, Ellen Cortell, relict (widow) of the late Jacob Godown, dec'd, aged 63 years 5 months and 15 days.

So the Ann noted below must be someone else.

In the 1860 Census an Ann (age 67) is living with her daughter Mary Godown Reed in Flemington, Hunterdon Co, NJ.

In the 1870 census Sargentsville, Deleware Two, Hunterdon Co page 159B, Ann (age 78) is living with her son Charles and family

3 ii. Adeline Coryell was born about 1799. She married unknown Robins. Unknown was born about 1799.

4 iii. Delilah Coryell was born about 1801.

5 iv. Emanuel Coryell was born about 1802. He married Charlotte Day. Charlotte was born about 1802.

6 v. Mary Ann Coryell was born in Pennsylvania 1807. She married William K. Oat about 1829. William was born in Pennsylvania 1805. (See William K. Oat for the continuation of this line.)

7 vi. Rebecca Coryell was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey September 1837. She married William Abbott 1873. William was born in New Jersey September 1836. i0 In the 1900 census Ocean Grove, Nepture Twp, Mamouth Co, NJ page 40B, William (age 63) is living with his wife Rebbeca (age 62) and Stella (age 29). They have been married for 26 years and Rebbeca has had 3 children all alive at the time of the census. William is a minister and owns his home.
