John R. Chamberlain Rites To be Conducted Saturday
The funeral of John R. Chamberlin, Sr., 72, former president of the Onondaga Board of Supervisors, who died at his home in Elbridge Wednesday night, will be conducted from the home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. O. E. Hess, pastor of Elbridge Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge. Mr. Chamberlin had been in failing health several years. He served as supervisor from the Town of Elbridge 16 years and during his last eight years was president of the board. On Sept. 4, 1923, he resigned to become a candidate for county superintendent of the poor, but was defeated. Born on a farm near Elbridge, the son of George and Sarah Higgins Chamberlin, Mr. Chamberlin entered politics in the early years of this century when he was elected assessor of the Town of Elbridge. He served two terms in that office. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia Hill Chamberlin; two sons, George and John R. Chamberlin; two daughters, Miss Louise A. Chamberlin of Elbridge and Mrs. Harry E. Paddock of Rochester; a sister, Miss Mary Chamberlin of Elbridge and eight grandchildren.
