He married Martha Ellen Godown in Darke Co. Ohio, October 30, 1896. some research has the mariage date as Oct 31
Martha was born Franklin Twp, Darke Co, OH July 14, 1876. Martha(910) was the daughter of John Washington Godown and Amanda Jane Spitler. Martha died February 06, 1937 in Darke Co. Ohio, at 60 years of age. In the 1900 census Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio page 57A, Harvey (age 26) is living with his wife Martha (age 25). They have been married for 3 years and have had no children. They are living right next door to his father and family. He has the occupation of farmer (probably with his father) and rents his home.
In the 1920 census Franklin Twp, Darle County, Ohio page 25, Harvey (age 35) is recorded with his wife Martha (age 34) and son Guy (age 9). They have been married for 13 years and have 1 child. Harvey is noted as a tobacco farmer.
In the 1930 census Harrison Twp, Peble Co, Ohio page 13, Harvey (age 46) is recorded with his wife Martha (age 44), Guy W (age 19), Mary H (age 6). and Charles E (age 5). Harvey is noted as being a general farmer.
Harvey Sylvester Ditmer and Martha Ellen Godown had the following children:
36 i. Guy Wesley5 Ditmer(911) was born in Darke Co. Ohio November 11, 1900. Guy died February 7, 1966 at 65 years of age.
37 ii. Mary Kathryn Ditmer was born in Darke Co. Ohio April 10, 1913. Mary died January 24, 2003 Miami Co, Ohio, at 89 years of age. She married William Fredrick Gibboney October 29, 1937. 38 iii. Charles Edward Ditmer(913) was born in Medina Co, Ohio September 27, 1914. Charles died October 17, 1942 at 28 years of age. Charles died in WWII and was buried overseas.
