3. George2 Drake (George Elmer1) was born in Springfield, Union Co, NJ January 16, 1921. In the 1930 census his birth place is noted as PA. George died September 10, 2006 in Northampton Co., Pa, at 85 years of age. Obituary : Daily Record, Morris County, N.J. September 12, 2006: George Drake died Sunday Sept. 10, 2006 at the Slate Belt Nursing Home in Bangor Pa. He was 85. He was born in Springfield and lived in Ledgewood for 31 years. He then moved to Virginia for 17 years before moving to East Stroudsburg, Pa. four years ago. He was a retired foreman at Hercules Power Co. in Kenvil, whee he worked for 31 years util 1983. He previously worked at several farms in New Jersey. He attended the Ledgewood Baptist Church in Ledgewood and recently had attended the First Baptist Church in East Stroudsburg, Pa. His son George, died in 1966. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elaine (Heckman); his six children, John Drake of Gladys, Va, Nancy Good of Lynchburg, Va, Eugene Drake of Amherst, Va, Sharon Valle of East Stroudsburg, Pa, Diane Sloane of Ledgewood, and Dwayne Drake of Mechanicsville, Md; his two sisters, Edith English of Ledgewood and Glrnda Smith of Piscataway; his 26 grandchildren and his 30 great-grandchildren. Friends may visit today, Tuesday, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St, Succasunna, (973) 584-7264. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at the Ledgewood Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.

He married Elaine Ethel Heckman February 27, 1943. Elaine was born in Nazareth, Northampton Co, PA January 02, 1927. Elaine was the daughter of Arlington Joseph Heckman and Lena Irene Lehr. Elaine died June 30, 2011 in Monroe Co, PA, at 84 years of age. Mrs. Elaine E Drake, 84, died on June 30, 2011 at the Pocono Medical Center in E Stroudsburg, PA. She was born in Nazareth, PA and lived in Ledgewood, NJ and Virginia before moving to East Stroudsburg 9 years ago. She was a retired Health Care provider and Nurses Aide at Dover General Hospital, Dover, NJ. She previously attended the Ledgewood Baptist Church and was now a member of the First Baptist Church in E. Stroudsburg. She was an avid reader and loved crocheting, needle work, games, and gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband George in 2006 and by her son George W in 1966. She is survived by her 6 children; John Drake of Gladys, VA, Nancy Good of Lynchburg, VA, Eugene Drake of Amherst, VA, Sharon Valle of E. Stroudsburg, PA, Diane Sloane of Ledgewood, NJ, and Dwayne Drake of Mechanicsville, PA, 3 sisters; Joyce of DE, Doris of NY, and Lois of PA, 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com, on Monday from 5 - 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 10 am at the Ledgewood Baptist Church, Main Street, Ledgewood, NJ, with the interment to follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.
