1. Arthur¹ Erwin was born in Ireland 1726. Arthur died July 9, 1791 in Tioga Point, Luzerne County, PA, at 65 years of age.

He married twice. He married Mary Scott about 1755. Mary was born about 1727. He married Mary Kennedy Easton, Northampton Co, PA, July 28, 1771. Mary was born about 1740. Mary was the daughter of William Kennedy and Mary Ann Henderson. Mary died July 29, 1817 at 77 years of age. Arthur commanded the Bucks County Militia in 1776. He founded the towns of Erwin New York and Erwinna in Pennsylvania. He was shot to death by a squatter named Thomas at the house of one of his tenant farmers named Daniel McDuffey. He was buried in the Erwin Burial Ground in Erwinna on July 17 1791.

Arthur Erwin and Mary Scott had the following children:

2 i. John² Erwin⁽⁹⁹⁹⁾ was born in Ireland November 12, 1756. John died February 17, 1788 at 31 years of age. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Flying Camp of the Continental Army; was taken prisoner at the fall of Ft. Washington and held for four years, dying a few months after his release.

3 ii. Joseph Erwin⁽¹⁰⁰⁰⁾ was born in Parish Crumlin, County Antrim, Ireland July 24, 1758. Joseph died February 9, 1807 at 48 years of age. He served a term in Congress about 1790, and held several governmental positions. He did effective service for his country both at home and in France. He lived as a country gentleman and never married.

4 iii. William Livingston Erwin⁽¹⁰⁰¹⁾ was born in Ireland February 12, 1760. William died June 16, 1836 at 76 years of age. He married Achsah Rockhill in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, 1782. Achsah was born about 1760. He was commissioned a Captain in the 1st Regt. of Foot in the Continental Army May 14, 1781. Thirty years later he represented Bucks County for several terms in the Pennsylvania State Senate

5 iv. Sarah Erwin was born in Ireland September 16, 1762. Sarah died May 5, 1809 at 46 years of age. She married John Mulhollen about 1780. John was born about 1760. (Additional notes for John Mulhollen⁽¹⁰⁰²⁾) John died April 5, 1815 at 54 years of age.

6 v. Francis Erwin⁽¹⁰⁰³⁾ was born in Ireland 1764. Francis died 1764 in Ireland, at less than one year of age.

7 vi. Arthur Erwin⁽¹⁰⁰⁴⁾ was born in Ireland 1765. Arthur died May 17, 1769 at 3 years of age. drowned in the Delaware river

8 vii. Hugh Scott Erwin was born in Ireland February 8, 1767. Hugh died May 31, 1846 at 79 years of age.

Arthur Erwin and Mary Kennedy had the following child:
