He married Christiana Myers about 1842. Christiana was born in West Virginia 1830. The 1850 and 1860 census recordes her as born in Penn. Christiana was the daughter of Henry Myers and Sarah Ann Unknown.
Christiana died October 1893 in Anderson Co, Kansas, at 63 years of age.(915) In the 1850 census Hope Twp, LaSalle Co Illinois page 226, James (age 22) is recorded with Christina (age 21), Bery (age 3), Amy Dixon (age 90), and Luther ?? (age 60). James was born in England and is noted as a farmer.
In the 1860 census Fairbanks P.O. Oran Twp Fayette Co Iowa page 307, James (age 33) is recorded with Christena (age 30), Benjamin (age 14), Sarah (age 10), Ann (age 7), Margaret (age 5), Francis (age 2) and George (age 2m). James is a farmer born in England. They are living right next door to Christina's parents.
In the 1870 census Fairbanks P.O. Jefferson Twp Fayette Co Iowa page 100, James (age 46) is recorded with Christena (age 44), Sarah (age 19), Maria (age 15), Margaret (age 13), Francis (age 11), George (age 9), Phebe (age 6), John (age 4) and Eliza (age 1). James is a farmer born in England.
In the 1880 census Indiana, Graham Co, Kansas page 227A, James (age 54) is recorded with his wife Christrice (age 52), F.B (age 36), M Annie Godown (age 26), S.F. Dickson (age 23), W.G. (age 21), G. John (age 13), J.E. (age 11) and Cora Godown (age 5). James is a farmer born in England.
In the 1900 census 1311 South First Street, 4 Ward, Iowa Falls, Hardin Co, Iowa page 157. James (age 75) is recorded with his daughter Emeline (age 44), her husband George (age 44) and 2 children Addie (age 16) and William (age 8). He is widowed, born in England and emigrated in 1838.
James Dixon and Christiana Myers had the following children:
2 i. Benjamin Franklin2 Dixon(916) was born Illinois May 7, 1847. Benjamin died November 10, 1917 in Tennessee, at 70 years of age.
3 ii. Sarah E Dixon(917) was born Illinois 1851. Sarah died November 23, 1931 in Marysville, Marshall Co, Kansas, at 80 years of age.
4 iii. Anna Maria Dixon(918) was born Illinois September 1854. Anna died October 12, 1933 in Portland, Multnomah Co, Oregon, at 79 years of age. She married Ansel Leroy Godown in Washington Co, Iowa, March 30, 1874. Ansel was born in VanBuren Co, Iowa April 19, 1851. Ansel(919) was the son of Mark Oscar Godown and Mahala Hurlburt. Ansel died June 8, 1927 in Baker, Baker Co, Oregon, at 76 years of age. (See Ansel Leroy Godown for the continuation of this line.) Ansel and Annie are recorded at different addresses at the time of the 1880 census.
In the 1930 census Portland District 489, Multnornah Co, Oregon page 102, Anne Godown (age 76 widow).is recorded living with her son-in-law and daughter William (age 42), and Katie (age 44).
5 iv. Margaret Dixon(920) was born Illinois 1855.
6 v. Francis Dixon(921) was born Iowa 1858. Francis died May 1952 at 93 years of age. She married James N Glover. James was born about 1858. (See James N Glover for the continuation of this line.)
+ 7 vi. George Washington Dixon was born May 18, 1860.
8 vii. Phoebe V Dixon(922) was born in Fayette Co, Iowa August 16, 1864. Phoebe died May 20, 1888 in Anderson Co, Kansas, at 23 years of age.
9 viii. John Gilpin Dixon was born in Fayette Co, Iowa March 22, 1866. John died January 8, 1951 in Wyandote, Kansas, at 84 years of age.
10 ix. Emmaline Dixon was born Illinois October 1867.
11 x. Elizabeth Jane Dixon was born in Oelwein, Iowa February 1869. Jennie died April 28, 1950 in Bartlesville, Wachington Co, OK, at 81 years of age. She married James Kenmore Slavens in Greeley, Anderson Co, Kansas, 1886. James was born in Monroe Co, Iowa September 26, 1867.
