He married Amanda Besecker. Amanda was born in Ohio April 15, 1861. Amanda was the daughter of Benjamin Besecker and Mary Ann Baker. Amanda died February 1, 1940 at 78 years of age. In the 1900 census Van Buren, Darke, Ohio page 145B, Samuel (age 44) is recorded with Maudy (age 39), Clarence (age 15), Clifford (age 10), and Mary (age 7). Samuel is a farmer born in Ohio.

Samuel D Fourman and Amanda Besecker had the following children:
