SUNDAY JULY 30, 1972: LAMBERTVILLE MOLD-MAKER, 73: LAMBERTVILLE - William O. Godown, 73, of 115 Clinton Street, here, died Friday in the Doylestown Hospital. Born in Mechanicsville, Pa., he had resided in Lambertville most of his life and was a retired mold make for the Trenton Potteries with 25 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Cripps Godown, three daughters, Mrs. Dors Zambella of Lambertville, Mrs. Jean Hash of Appomattox, Va., and Mrs. Dorothy Hagan of Penns Park, Pa.; four sons, Robert, William, Charles and Arthur Godown, all of Lambertville; one sister Mrs. Sarah Sparks of Penns Grove, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. form the VanHorn Funeral Home, 21 York Street, here. The Rev. David Errickson, pastor of the Wesley Methodist Church of Lambertville, will officiate. WEDNESDAY MARCH 11, 1987: LAMBERTVILLE: Bessie Crips Godown, 81, died Monday in Doylestown Manor Nursing Home. Born in Croton, Mrs. Godown was a lifelong Lambertville resident. She retired after 15 years from the Lambertville Ceramics Co. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville. Wife of the late William O. Godown, she is survived by four sons, Arthur "Butch" Godown, with whom she lived, Robert Godown, William Godown, and Charles Godown, all of Lambertville; three daughters, Doris Zambella of Lambertville, Jean Has of Appomattox, Va., Dorothy Hagen of Shinglehouse, Pa.; a brother, Russell Crips of Pittstown; two sisters, Elsie Werner and Betty Burns both of Lambertville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday from the Garefino Funeral Home, 10 N. Franklin St. Lambertville. The Rev. WIlliam G. Thompson, pastor of the first Presbyterian Church, will officate. He is listed a medium height, and Slender build.

In the 1920 census Lambertville Hunterdon Co, page 212A, William (age 21) is living with his sister Sarah. Looks like his occupation is Rubber factory worker but is a little distorted.

In the 1930 census 264 Union street Lambertville Hunterdon Co, NJ page 25, William (age 31) is recorded with his wife Anna (age 24), Robert (age 4y1m), and Doris (age 1y11m) and step father Henry Putcher (age 70). Henry Putcher is actually Anna's step father. Willian is noted as being a porter caster.

Doris Godown Zambella died at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa. at the age of 72.

Daughter of William and Bessie Cripps Godown, Mrs. Zambella was a lifelong resident of Lambertville.

She worked for the Toll Lace Works in Lambertville, the South Hunterdon Regional High School cafeteria and Pitman Moore Inc., from where she retired, in Titusville. She was last employed at D & C Printing in New Hope, Pa.

Mrs. Zambella was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a past member of the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad ladies auxiliary. Mrs. Zambella was a member of the Hibernia Fire Company's ladies auxiliary for more than 50 years and served as its secretary for 40.

Her husband, Andrew Zambella, and her brother, Robert Godown, died earlier.

She is survived by a son, John Zambella of West Amwell Township; a daughter, Carol Feller of Lambertville; two sisters, Jean Hash of Appomattox, Va., and Dorothy Hagans of Shingle House, Pa.; three brothers, William and Arthur Godown of Lambertville and Charles Godown of West Amwell Township, and one grandson.

Her obituary was published in the Hunterdon County Democrat on August 30, 2001.

She married Andrew John Zambella Lambertville, Hunterdon Co, NJ, August 2, 1947.

Gump was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey November 18, 1923. Gump(1734) was the son of John Giovanni Zambella and Mary Maria unknown. Zambella.

Funeral will be 9 a.m. Friday from Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge St.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

child 569 v. Jean Marie Godown was born Lambertville, Hunterdon Co, NJ September 26, 1942. Jean died February 7, 2015 at 72 years of age. Jean Marie (Godown) Hash, 72, of Promise Land Rd., Appomattox, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband James Wyatt Hash Sr. one year earlier.

Born in Lambertville, New Jersey on September 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Cripps and William O. Godown. She lived in New Jersey prior to relocating to Appomattox in 1970 when she and her husband Jim built their own home on the family property.

Jean loved being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed her ”little ones” while she could. She was a voracious reader and lived to cook. Her “Killer” breakfasts were the talk of the table. She also enjoyed a good storytelling and visiting with friends and family.

She is survived by her children, one daughter, Bessiegaye Hash of Smithfield, Va and a son, James Wyatt Hash Jr. of Otis, OR.; a sister, Dorothy Hagans and husband Ken of Shinglehouse, Pa; two brothers, Butch Godown and wife Pat, and Charlie Godown and wife Carmella all of Lambertville, New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Maryann Muehlbauer and husband Charles of Flemington, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Bryan Cullen and wife Heidi and Sammy Strunk of Smithfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Jean’s wishes, in lieu of a funeral, there will be a memorial service in the spring to commemorate her life.

child 570 vi. Dorothy Ann Godown(1735) was born Lambertville, Hunterdon Co, NJ November 28, 1945. Dorothy died March 26, 2015 in Ceres Twp, Hunterdon Co, NY, at 69 years of age. CERES TOWNSHIP, PA---Dorothy Ann “Dot” Hagans, 69, of Ceres Township, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family Thursday, March 26, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Born November 28, 1945 in Lambertville, NJ, she was a daughter of William O. and Bessie Cripps Godown. On November 7, 1964 in Sandy Ridge Church, Stockton, NJ, she married Kenneth L. Hagans, who survives. Mrs. Hagans was a graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School in Lambertville. In 1975 Dot and her husband moved to Ceres Township. She was a devoted employee of the former Olean Tile Company for 30 years until her retirement. Dot loved going to yard sales, and collecting bells and candles. Her greatest love was her family. Surviving besides her husband of 50 years are two sons, Kenneth L. (Kim) Hagans Jr. and John M. Hagans, both of Ceres Township; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Todd) Mesler, Kenneth “Lee” (Alison) Hagans III, and Breanna Hagans, all of Ceres Township; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Carmella) Godown and Arthur (Patricia) Godown, both of Lambertville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Godown and William Godown; and two sisters, Doris Zambella and Jean Hash. In keeping with Dot’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Private graveside funeral services and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse with the Rev. Chad E. Shaffer, pastor of Bell Run Union Church, Shinglehouse, and the Rev. Bruce Ireland, pastor of Country Chapel Baptist Church, Eldred, officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in Dot’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society. Dot’s family has entrusted to her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
