He married Rachel Linton Columbus, Franklin Co, OH, 1903. Ray was born Columbus, Franklin Co, OH August 10, 1875. Ray(1686) was the daughter of Jonathan Fallis Linton and Eliza Jane Sapp. Ray died February 12, 1961 in Saint Petersburg, Pinellas Co, Florida, at 85 years of age. Joseph A. Godown, attorney at law of Columbus, was born on a farm in Franklin county, Ohio, June 24, 1872, his parents being James and Mary (Roberts) Godown who were natives of Ohio. The father, devoting his attention to general agricultural pursits throughout his entire life, still resides on the home farm. It was there that Joseph A. Godown was reared and the country schools afforded him his educational advantages. In early manhood he engaged in teaching for three years, but regarded this as the initial step to other professional labor, and as a preparation for the practice of law he later matriculated in the Ohio State University, being graduated therefrom in 1899. Prior to this he took a course of preparatory law and journalism. Following his admission to the bar he has since engaged in practice in Columbus, and for three years was associated with the firm of Merrick & Thompkins. He has built up a lucrative law practice. Earnest effort, close application and the exercise of his native talents have won him prestige as a lawyer of Columbus and at the bar he is numbered among eminent and prominent men.
In the 1900 census Norwich Twp Franklin Co Ohio, page 169B, Joseph (age 27) is rooming as a boarder in the household of a Mary Cox. Joseph has the occupation of Lawyer listed and is single.
In 1903 Mr. Godown was married to Miss Rachael Linton, of Columbus and they have one son, Joseph L. Mr. Godown is a member of the Masonic fraternity, in hearty sympathy with its beneficent principles and purposes.
In the 1910 census Columbus, Franklin Co Ohio, Joseph (age 38) is living with his wife Racheal (age 35) and his son Joseph (age 4)
In the 1920 census 306 Eighteenth Ave, Columbus, Franklin Co, Ohio, page 6, Joseph (age 47) is living with his wife Rachel (age 45), Joseph (age 13), Stanley (age 6), Jane (age 3y11m), Jonathan Linton (age 88) and Edward Linton (age 54).
In the 1930 census 306 Eighteenth Ave, Columbus, Franklin Co, Ohio, page 184, Joseph (age 57) is living with his wife Rachel (age 55), Stanley (age 16), Jane (age 14), and brother-in-law Edward Linton (age 64).

age. Buried at Huntington Beach, Orange County, California She married Lorin Perkins Leech before, 1944.
Lorin was born in Medina Co, Ohio 1910. Lorin(1688) was the son of John Neil Leech and Anna Perkins. Lorin died May 31, 1972 in Upper Arlington, Franklin Co, Ohio, at 61 years of age. (See Lorin Perkins Leech for the continuation of this line.)
