William died November 30, 1866 in Bridgewater, Sumerset Co, IL, at 40 years of age. Buried at Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Sandy Ridge, Hunterdon County, New Jersey

He married Ann Wolverton Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, May 8, 1852. May 19, 1852, Vol. XIV, No. 40, Whole No. 714

On Saturday the 8th inst., at the residence of Andrew Wolverton, Esq., by the Rev. J. James Baker, Mr. William Godown, and Miss Ann Wolverton, both of Delaware Township, Hunterdon County, N.J

Ann was born in New Jersey July 7, 1832. Ann was the daughter of Andrew Wolverton and Rebecca Dilts. Ann died October 26, 1909 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 77 years of age. Buried at Sandy Ridge Cemetery. Since William and Ann are buried together it is assumed that William was Ann's first husband. William T Godown is on an voter registration list dated Oct 16-17, 1866.

In the 1850 census of Hunterdon Co page 116a, William is listed living with John A and his occupation is listed a Carpenter.

The 1860 census Segentsville, Deleware Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ page 380, William (age 33) is recorded with Ann (age 27), Denilias (age 7), Emma (age 5), Arabella (age 2) and Temandore (age 1). They are living just a couple of doors from Job Wolverton. William has the occupation of Carpenter with real Estate value of $1,000 and personel of $250.

child 236 ii. Emma Francis Godown(1448) was born in New Jersey January 20, 1855. Emma died December 23, 1922 Sandy Ridge, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 67 years of age. Published Dec 27, 1922. "The Courier-News" Bridgewater, N.J. The funeral of Mrs. Henry Leland, formerly of this city, was held at her late home, Sandy Ridge, N.J. this morning, and the interement was made in Hillside Cemetery, this afternoon. Mrs. Leland died Saturday, at Sandy Ridge. Surviving her are three sisters, Mrs. Caleb Dickinson, of Portland Oregon; Mrs. A.C. VanSciver, of Philadelphia and Mrs Thomas Currin. Mrs. Leland was formerly Miss Emma Frances Godown, and was a native of this city. She was a step-daughter of Herman Walker, whose home many years, was in North Plainfield. Her brother D.F. Godown, who thirty years ago, livied at 41 Sumerset street, and died there some years later. She was a niece of Andrew Godown who in the '90's lived at 402 Central avenue, and a cousin of George Godown, whowas a clerk in the postoffice in the '90's. For some years Mr. and rs Leland lived in Newark, until the former's death several years ago. Then she went to live with to aged aunts in Sandy Ridge. She married Henry A Leland 1881.

Henry was born in Massachusetts November 27, 1851. (Additional notes for Henry A Leland(1449)) Henry died July 20, 1916 in Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey, at 64 years of age. Emma was listed on the 1860 census records as age 5

child 237 iii. Arabelle O Godown was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey 1858. Arabelle died January 21, 1933 at 74 years of age.(1450) She married Christopher F Curran in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, January 27, 1876. Christopher was born in Pennsylvania June 1851. (Additional notes for Christopher F Curran(1451)) Christopher died before 1910. (See Christopher F Curran for the continuation of this line.) In the 1910 census Brooklyn Ward 20, Kings Co NY page 297, Arable (age 51, widow) is recorded with William (age 28), Florence (age 32), Anna (age 25), James (age 23), Robert (age 21), and Thomas (age 14).

child 238 iv. Minna Madora Godown(1452) was born in New Jersey 1859. She married Abram D VanSciver. (Additional notes for Abram D VanSciver(1453)) Listed in the 1860 census. The name was written in longhand and may be spelled wrong.

child 239 v. Mary Elizabeth Godown was born Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ July 19, 1861. She married Caleb Dickenson in Plainfield, Union Co, New Jersey, July 3, 1883. Caleb was born in New Jersey January 1856. Caleb was the son of unknown Dickenson and Ann unknown. (See Caleb Dickenson for the continuation of this line.) In the 1880 census Deleware Twp, Hunterdon Co page 31B, a Mary (age 18) is living in the household of Jesse Hasbrant as a servant.

child 240 vi. Helen Rebecca Godown was born Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ September 15, 1863. One question comes up looking at the 1870 census is that Ann (age 37) and Mary (age 9) are living in the household of Andrew Wolverton. Where is Ellen who should now be 7?
