Andrew died February 18, 1908 Sandy Ridge, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 75 years of age. Death certificate has death date of 1908 and cemetery has 1906

Trenton Evening Times Obituary Thursday February 20 1908 Stockton, Feb 20. Dewitt C. Godown, an aged resident of Sandy Ridge, died at his home Tuesday, after a long illness. The funeral will be held from the Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Friday and the services will be conducted by the Rev. Stewart Smith, pastor of the church. Internment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. C.W. Green having charge of the arrangements. The deceased man was 75 years old and was a son of the late Jacob Godown. He was born and raised in Delaware Township and excepting several years in Newark, had always lived in this community. He was a carpenter by trade, but owing to ill health, had lived retired for a long time. Mr. Godown was seventy five years old and besides a widow, he is survived by two brothers, Alexander and Johnson Godown, both of Lambertville.

He married Caroline T Wolverton about 1859. Caroline was born in New Jersey May 1837. Caroline(1455) was the daughter of Andrew Wolverton and Rebecca Dilts. Caroline died 1933 Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 96 years of age. Probably not a child of Richard. Does not fit in the 1840 census.

Andrew is living with Charles W in the 1850 census page 103a and his occupation is listed as coachmaker. He is 18 and is most likely a brother or other close relative to Charles.

In the 1860 census Lumberville, Solebury Twp, Bucks Co PA page 735, Andrew (age 28) is recorded with Caroline (age 23) and Charles Johnson (age 22). Andrew is a wheelwright and all births are NJ.

There is an Andrew J Godown list as a Union Soldier in Pennsylvania. He is shown enlisted as a Private on 2 July 1863 in Company G, 40th Militia Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania. Mustered Out Company G, 40th Militia Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania on 16 Aug 1863. This company does not record any battles being fought.

In the 1880 census North Plainfield, Somerset, New Jersey page 408C, Andrew (age 47) is recorded with his wife Caroline (age 43), son George (age 20) and niece Minna M (age 21).

In the May 1,1885 census of Minnosota, county of Wilkin, town of McCauleyville, there is an Andrew (age 52), Caroline (age 48) and George (age 24).

In the 1900 census Central Avenue, Cranford in Cranford Twp, Union Co, NJ page 29B, Andrew (age 68) is living with his wife (Caroline?) Christine (age 63) with Richard Booker and Jane Booker which looks like are boaders. They have been married for 40 years and have had 1 child. Andrew has the occupation of carpenter and rents his house.

In the 1905 State census Delaware Twp page 7B, Andrew (age 72) is living with his wife Christine (age 68). He is listed as a farmer and can read and write.

Andrew Dewitt Godown and Caroline T Wolverton had the following child:
