He married Aubrey Laurie Clark in Orangeburg Co, SC, March 31, 1951. Aubrey was born in Cope, Orangeburg Co, SC August 16, 1928. Aubrey was the daughter of Winfield Clark and Annie Laurie Kirkland. Aubrey died October 4, 2009 in Orangeburg Co, SC, at 81 years of age. Aubrey Clark Godowns of Orangeburg, formally of Cope, born August 16, 1928 died October 4, 2009 at the residence of her daughter in Irmo, SC. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 6 at 2:00 PM at Union United Methodist Church in Cope with Pastor Fred McDaniel and Rev. Linda McDaniel officiating. The service will conclude at the graveside in Old Union Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Godowns was born in Cope, a daughter of Winfield and Annie Laurie Kirkland Clark. She attended Columbia College and was president of her sophomore class. She was a member of Edisto Fork Grange, the Eutaw chapter NSDAR, and the Union United Methodist Church. She served in many capacities in these organizations through the years. She was recently honored by the United Methodist Women for over 50 years of service to that organization. She was predeceased by a son Clinton J. Godowns, a niece Anne Shecut Parker, a brother William E. (Bubba) Clark and sisters Mary C. Shecut and Laurie C. Bryant. She was the widow of Thomas Dixon Godowns. She is survived by twin sons, Thomas Dixon Godowns and wife Georgette and Edward Winfield Godowns and wife Susannah Traywick, all of Cope. One daughter Sara G. Drews, who lives in Irmo, SC, three granddaughters, Caroline Turner Drews, Margaret Elizabeth Godowns and Winifred Iva Drews and three grandsons, Edward "Tray" Godowns, Thomas Godowns III and Jonathan Derrick. Sisters; Sara C. Vardell of Charleston, SC, Jessie C. Rast (Jim) of Cameron and Jeanne C. Rast (Ed) of Cameron and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Godowns, a native of Stellaville, was the son of the late Clinton Jackson Godowns and Corine Dixon Godowns. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He played baseball in the special services while on active duty. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
The funeral was April 7 at Union United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Smoak and Miriam Hadden officiating. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery, Cope.
Survivors include his wife, Aubrey Clark Godowns; sons, Thomas Dixon (Dickie) Godowns Jr., Edward W. (Eddie) Godowns and Clinton J. (Clint) Godowns, all of Cope; a daughter, Sara G. Drews, Great Falls, Va.; brother, Jimmy Godowns, Orangeburg; sisters, Mrs. Ed (Bett) Perdue, Wrens, and Mrs. Mary Frances Thomas, Macon; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank (Betty) Godowns, Wrens.
Active pallbearers were Chuck Baldwin, Cholly Clark, Fred Hewitt Jr., Ed Perdue, Jimmy Rast, Monty Rast, Windfield Shecut and Russell Wolfe.
Thomas Dixon Godowns and Aubrey Laurie Clark had the following children:

Burial: Old Union Cemetery Orangeburg Co, South Carolina Cope - Clinton C. "Clint" Godowns, 49, of Cope, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Orangeburg Nursing Home following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at Union United Methodist Church in Cope, with the Rev. Fred McDaniel officiating.
Mr. Godowns was born in Orangeburg, a son of Mrs. Aubrey Clark Godowns and the late Thomas D. Godowns. He was a retired professional fishing guide and dock master in Key Largo, Fla. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother of Orangeburg; two brothers, Eddie Godowns and wife, Susannah, and Dickie Godowns and wife, Georgette, all of Cope; a sister,Sarah G. Drews of Irmo; and a number of nieces and nephews.
