First Generation

1. Melchor1 Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1820.

He married Elizabeth unknown. Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania 1824. In the 1850 census Hamilton Twp, Monroe Co PA page , Melchor (age 30) is recorded with Elizabeth (age 26), Mary Ann (age 10), Sarah (age 8), Jacob (age 6), John (age 4), Dianna (age 1) and Savanna (age 1). Melchor is a laborer and all births are PA.

In the 1860 census Jackson Twp, Monroe Co PA page 581, Melchor (age 40) is recorded with Elizabeth (age 37), Sarah (age 18), Jacob (age 16), John (age 14), Dianna (age 12), Savanna (age 12), Caroline (age 9), Matilda (age 7), and Manda (age 3). Melchor is a laborer and all births are PA.

In the 1870 census Stevensville P.O. Pike, Bradford, Pennsylvania page 311, Melchor (age 50) is recorded with Elizabeth (age 47), John (age 23), Matilda (age 16), Amanda (age 13), Emma (age 10), Charlie (age 7), and William (age 3). Melchor is a farmer and all births are PA.

Melchor Hay and Elizabeth unknown had the following children:

child 2 i. Mary Ann2 Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1840.

child 3 ii. Jacob Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1841.

child 4 iii. Sarah M Hay was born in Monroe Co, PA May 1842. She married Joseph Isaiah Engler about 1862. Joseph was born in Monroe Co, PA April 1840. (See Joseph Isaiah Engler for the continuation of this line.)

child 5 iv. John Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1845.

child 6 v. Dianna Hay was born in Monroe Co, PA 1848.

child 7 vi. Savanna Hay was born in Monroe Co, PA 1848.

child 8 vii. Caroline Hay was born in Monroe Co, PA 1850.

child 9 viii. Matilda Hay was born in Monroe Co, PA 1852.

child 10 ix. Amanda Hay was born in Monroe Co, PA 1856.

child 11 x. Emma Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1860.

child 12 xi. Charles Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1862.

child 13 xii. William Hay was born in Pennsylvania 1866.
