He married Elizabeth Joiner Washington Co, GA, April 11, 1873. Andrew and Elizabeth were first cousins

Elizabeth was born Washington Co, GA September 10, 1854. Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph Joiner and Sarah Tanner. Elizabeth died June 18, 1921 Louisville, Jefferson Co, GA, at 66 years of age. Buried at Parkers Methodist Church, Louisville GA. In the 1900 census Stapleton, Jefferson Co, GA Page 24, Andrew (age 50) is living with his wife Elizabeth (age 52), Marcus (age 17), Julia (age 12), May (age 15), Annie (age 11), Lester (age 8), Lizzie (age 4),and Esley (age 5). The page is very hard to read. They have been married for 22 years and have had 9 children with 7 living at the time of the census. They live right next to a Godowns family.

In the 1910 census Davisboro, Washington, Georgia page 57, Andrew (age 54) is recorded with Elizabeth (age 54), Elizabeth (age 16), Eula (age 13), and Ada Smith (age 22). The have been married for 37 years and have 11 children with 8 living at the time of the census.

In the 1920 census Wrens Road, 78 Militia District (Venice), Jefferson Co Georgia page 79, Andrew (age 65) is listed with his wife Elizabeth (age 66). Andrew is listed as a farmer and living next door to Marcus Joiner. Also listed is his grand son Willie Davis (age 9).

Wednesday, June 1, 1955 Paper: Augusta Chronicle Stellaville GA - May 31 - Mrs Eugenta Joiner Godowns, 79, widow of James Jackson Godowns died in University Hospital in Augusta at 7:45 pm today. Funeral services will be conducted at Ways Baptist church, Stellaville, Wednesday at 4pm with the Rev R.J. Robinson officiating. The body will be at the home of Mrs C.J. Godowns at Stellaville until the hour of the services. Mrs Godowns, a lifelong resident of Stellaville, was a member of Ways Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Leland Zeigler of Stellaville, Mrs Horace Harley of Orangeburg, S.C. and Mrs John Newton of Waynesboro; two sons Willis A Godowns of Augusta and Waitus J Godowns of Macon; Three sisters Mrs May Wilson of Louisville, Mrs Lizzie Davis of Bartow and Mrs Annie Bel Duggins of Wadley; two brothers, Eulie Joiner of Augusta and Marcus Joiner of Louiville 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She married James Jackson Godowns Jefferson Co, GA, December 23, 1896.

Jennie was born Jefferson Co, GA May 15, 1873. Jennie(2884) was the son of William A Godowns and Narcissa M Hudson. Jennie died February 17, 1937 in Stellaville, Jefferson Co, GA, at 63 years of age. Buried at Ways Baptish Church in Stellaville, Ga Find A Grave Memorial# 53694884

Thursday, February 18, 1937 Paper: Augusta Chronicle Stellaville, Ga, Feg 17 - J.J. Godowns, 64, years of age, died at his home here this morning after a short illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11am at the Ways Baptist church with the Rev T.A. Burrell and the Rev I.S. Caldwell officiating. Mr. Godowns was a prominent farmer of Jefferson Couty and took and active part in both Civic and religious activities. Surviving him are his wife Mrs Eugenia Joiner Godowns; three sons, C.J. Godowns, Stellaville, W.A. Godowns, Augusta, and W.J. Godowns of Macon. four daughters, Mrs L.D. Zeigler, Stellaville, Mrs H.E. Harley, Bamberg, S.C.; Mrs C.T. Woodall of Jacksonville and Miss Louise Godowns, Stellaville; one brother W.H. Godowns, Louisville, Ga; one sister, Mrs Mollie Allen of Swaubsboro, and Sixteen Grandchildren.
